4 videos for Simulation of Chi Square distribution

This is a short description of the four screen casts that take you thru the first half of work done in the article Simulation of c 2 - distribution with some additional tasks.

Simulation of 20000 rolls of 60 dices

In this video we are setting the scene by presenting the problem and make Excel do the simulation of the 200000 roll of the 60 dices. The excel functions: RANDOMBETWEEN, COUNTIF and the use of F4 to lock cell references, and F5 to mark an area in Excel are shown together with the "ctrl D" that copies formulas in a marked area.

Sums of squares of deviation

In this video the notion of sums of squares of deviation is presented as a good measure of how fare off a roll of the 60 dices is from the expected roll where we have 10 of each of the 6 faces. It is shown how excel can do the calculations. So now we have the means to argue whether the roll shown in the picture is an unlikely roll or it is within what we would expect.

Ordinary statistics

In this video we use ordinary descriptive statistics to get a clearer view of how the 20000 roll are distributed. Excels diagrams are discussed.

Chi 2 theory

In this video the functionality of Excel regarding Chi-squared is shown, and the theoretical distribution is compared to the results of the simulation.
